Health care organizations nationwide are being victimized by ransomware attacks, which disable hospital operations and threaten patient care. Ransomware is a true enterprise risk, and it is imperative that organizations take proactive steps for mitigation, including implementing information technology security safeguards, educating employees, and obtaining cyber liability coverage. This Executive Summary provides an overview of ransomware, a framework for establishing a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy, and a guide on how to mitigate economic risk through cyber insurance.
