OIG Says No Sanctions for Medigap Plan's Use of Preferred Hospital Network

The Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) in an advisory opinion posted June 1 once again ruled out sanctions in connection with an arrangement in which a Medicare Supplemental Health Insurance (Medigap) Plan provides a premium credit of $100 off the next renewal premium to policyholders who use a network hospital for an inpatient stay.
