Massachusetts SNF Resolves Allegations of Disability Discrimination over Refusal to Admit Patient Taking Meds to Treat Opioid Use Disorder

A Massachusetts skilled nursing facility (SNF) will pay a $5,000 civil penalty and take other measures to resolve allegations it engaged in discriminatory practices by refusing to admit a prospective patient because he was taking medication to treat Opioid Use Disorder (OUD), the Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (OCR) and U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts announced December 22, 2021.
