Neutral Videos

Free Service: This service is available at no cost to any AHLA neutral. Recording is quick and easy.

Why create a video?

When selecting an arbitrator, parties generally want more than impressive credentials. They also want to know if a candidate has a suitable demeanor, and an appropriate style of managing cases and making decisions. A video provides a way for parties to get to know you that written words (a profile, resume, or curriculum vitae) cannot.

Do you find testimony more revealing than an affidavit? If so, then you can appreciate why parties might find value in a video, even if they already have access to a resume.

What you need

  • A camera at approximately head level
  • A suitable background
  • A good microphone (a standard computer microphone is sufficient)
  • Adequate lighting
  • Minimal background noise (silence your cell phone)
  • Talking points or a script for a video of two minutes or less

When you are ready to record

Click on this link and enter your name and email address. Copy your talking points or script into the teleprompter (optional). Start Recording when ready.

Recording will start after a five second countdown. It will stop at or shortly after the two-minute mark.

After you record

Review the video. If you are satisfied, submit it. If not, record again as many times as you wish until you are comfortable with the result.

Practice Tips

  • If you plan to read text from the teleprompter while recording, add a lot of spacing. For example, make each sentence a separate paragraph.
  • If necessary, adjust the scrolling speed while the video is recording.
