Massachusetts Dermatology Center Pays $300k HIPAA Settlement over Improper Disposal of PHI

New England Dermatology PC, d/b/a New England Dermatology and Laser Center (NDELC), paid $300,640 to resolve a potential violation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy rule involving the improper disposal of protected health information (PHI), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office for Civil Rights announced August 23.
