MedPAC Makes Recommendations for Streamlining Medicare Alternative Payment Model Portfolio

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) should consider implementing a “population-based payment approach” to reduce the number of accountable care organization (ACO) tracks from the current seven to a smaller number that are each geared toward different sized provider organizations and involve different degrees of risk, the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) said in its June report to Congress.
