CMS Should Expand IRF Transfer Payment Policy to Home Health Care, OIG Says

Medicare could have saved approximately $993 million in 2017 and 2018 if the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) had expanded its inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF) transfer payment policy to early discharges to home health care, the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) said in a report posted December 10.
