Lab Agrees to Pay $9.85 Million to Resolve Allegations that Lease Payments to Physicians Exceeded Fair Market Value

BioReference Health, LLC and its corporate parent OPKO Health, Inc. have agreed to pay $9.85 million to the federal government and the states of Massachusetts and Connecticut to resolve allegations that BioReference submitted claims to Medicare, MassHealth, and Connecticut Medicaid that violated state and federal anti-kickback and self-referral laws, U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts Rachael S. Rollins announced July 14.
