Physician Indicted for Pandemic Relief Fraud While on Pretrial Release for Health Care Fraud

Ophthalmologist Ameet Goyal, M.D. has been charged in a Superseding Indictment with fraudulently obtaining government-guaranteed loans intended to help small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic while he was on pretrial release for a previous indictment for health care fraud offenses, Audrey Strauss, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced June 24.
