People often describe the past year as “challenging,” but that is a euphemism for what has been catastrophic for so many millions of people. Frontline health care workers have carried a particularly difficult burden. They have faced death and grieving families daily and, in many cases, suffered a sense of impotence as their best efforts to save their patients were unsuccessful.
