OIG Report Raises Concerns That Medicare Advantage Denials May Compromise Access to Care, Burden Providers

Medicare Advantage Organizations (MAOs) sometimes delayed or denied requests for services and payments that met Medicare coverage and billing rules, which raises concerns about beneficiary access to medically necessary care and burdens on providers, the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) said in a report posted August 28.
