EHR Vendor Agrees to Pay $18.25 Million FCA Settlement to Resolve Kickback Allegations

National electronic health records (EHR) vendor athenahealth Inc. (Athena) agreed to pay the federal government $18.25 million to resolve allegations it violated the False Claims Act (FCA) by paying kickbacks to generate sales of its EHR product, athenaClinicals, the Department of Justice announced January 28.
