OIG Confirms Medigap Plan's Use of Preferred Hospital Network

The Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) in an advisory opinion posted August 19 once again indicated that it would not impose sanctions in connection with a proposal for a Medicare Supplemental Health Insurance (Medigap) Plan to provide a premium credit of $100 off the next renewal premium to policyholders who use a network hospital for an inpatient stay.
