U.S. Court in Texas Denies Early Release Request for Convicted Fraudster

The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas refused June 7 to release a defendant convicted of health care fraud who had only served ten years of his 40-year sentence. The defendant’s supposed vulnerability to COVID-19 wasn’t enough to qualify for compassionate release under the sentencing guidelines, the court said.
