Behavioral Health Enforcement and Compliance Insights from the 2020 National Health Care Fraud and Opioid Takedown

In a historic health care fraud enforcement action, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced on September 30, 2020 that 345 individuals in 51 federal districts have been charged with submitting more than $6 billion in false and fraudulent claims to both federal health care programs and private insurers.[1] More than 100 doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals were among those charged.
