Medicare Spending on Physician Services Fell 14% in 2020, AMA Study Finds

The COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on Medicare spending as beneficiaries opted to delay or forgo care, with spending on physician services declining $13.9 billion, or 14%, below expected levels in 2020, the American Medical Association (AMA) reported.
