Prescription drug pricing continues to be a hot topic among policy makers, patients, and the public. Federal agencies made headlines this past year with high-profile policies like the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) Importation of Prescription Drug final rule, which allows states and Indian Tribes to submit proposals to the FDA for the importation of certain prescription drugs from Canada. Yet the bulk of activity continues to be at the state level. State legislators and agencies have continued to pursue a wide range of policies intended to help address the growing cost of prescription drugs.
