Children’s Hospital May Use Donations to Subsidize Costs, OIG Says

An arrangement under which a non-profit hospital operator and two donors would use an established fund to subsidize children’s hospital patients’ bills may implicate federal fraud and abuse laws, but wouldn’t prompt any sanctions from the government, the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) said in an advisory opinion published February 9.
