CMS to Propose “Birthing Friendly” Hospital Designation, Issues Guidance on Extending Medicaid Postpartum Coverage

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will propose a “Birthing-Friendly” hospital designation as part of the administration’s efforts to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity in the United States, the agency announced December 7.
