OIG Calls for More Oversight of Facility-Initiated Discharges from Nursing Homes

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and state survey agencies should do more to identify and address potentially inappropriate discharges of nursing home residents initiated by the facilities, the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) said in a report released November 22.
