L.A. Care Agrees to $1.3 Million HIPAA Settlement to Resolve Data Breach Probe

Local Initiative Health Authority for Los Angeles County, doing business as L.A. Care Health Plan, is paying $1.3 million to resolve potential violations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) rules stemming from two data breaches, the Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights announced September 11.
