OIG OKs FQHC’s Loaned Smartphones to Low-Income Patients

An arrangement under which patients of a federally qualified health center use limited-use smartphones that the opinion requestor loaned them to facilitate access to telehealth services would not run afoul of federal fraud and abuse laws, the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) said in an advisory opinion posted April 27.
