U.S. Court in Texas Finds Insurer Properly Denied Coverage for “Wilderness” Therapy

The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas sided with insurer Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Texas (BCBS) June 1 in finding it was not obligated to cover treatment at two residential “wilderness” therapy providers. The court found the treatment was clearly excluded under the plan at issue.
