OIG: Hospitals Overbilled Medicare by $1 Billion Based on Incorrect Coding

Hospitals received estimated overpayments of $1 billion for fiscal years (FYs) 2016 and 2017 based on incorrect use of severe malnutrition diagnosis codes, the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) said in a report posted July 15.
