OIG Urges CMS to Closely Monitor Opioid Use and Access to Treatment in Light of Pandemic

Because of increased risks posed by COVID-19, it is critical for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to monitor opioid use, access to treatment, and the number of beneficiaries receiving medication-assisted treatment (MAT) drugs and naloxone, the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) said in an August 12 data brief.
