AHLA to Present Gary W. Herschman with 2026 Patricia T. Meador Leadership Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The American Health Law Association (AHLA) has selected Gary W. Herschman, Shareholder at Baker Donelson, to receive the 2026 Patricia T. Meador Leadership Award. The award recognizes outstanding contribution and leadership within AHLA's Fraud and Abuse Practice Group.

Established by AHLA's Fraud and Abuse Practice Group in tribute to the late Patricia T. Meador, the award honors a health law professional who demonstrates sustained commitment to fraud and compliance education, mentors emerging practitioners, and advocates innovative approaches to compliance training.

“Gary Herschman exemplifies the mentorship and educational commitment this award was created to recognize,” said Christine White, AHLA President. “His guidance has shaped health law practitioners’ understanding of fraud and compliance issues nationwide.”

Herschman has practiced health care law for more than 30 years, focusing on mergers, acquisitions, private equity partnerships, and joint ventures. He advises physician practices, hospitals, health systems, and investors on transactions ranging from $5 million to more than $250 million, including billion-dollar agreements.

Herschman serves as co-chair of Baker Donelson's Health Care Transactions Team and has chaired AHLA's Fraud & Abuse Practice Group. He regularly speaks at health care industry conferences and writes on transaction trends affecting physicians and health care organizations nationwide.

Herschman received his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and his B.A. from Lafayette College. He is listed in Chambers USA, Band 1, and Best Lawyers in America for Health Care Law.
