In announcing the U.S. Department of Justice's (DOJ’s) decision to file suit in federal court to enjoin the blockbuster health insurance mergers between Aetna and Humana and between Anthem and Cigna, then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch said, "If allowed to proceed, these mergers would fundamentally reshape the health insurance industry...They would leave much of the multitrillion-dollar health industry in the hands of three mammoth insurance companies."
