On November 3, 2022, the United States Children’s Hospital Association (CHA) sent a letter to Congress outlining three key focus areas to protect and advance children’s health care in the United States. These three focus areas—(1) addressing the mental health emergency among children; (2) addressing shortages in the pediatric health care workforce; and (3) safeguarding children’s health coverage—define long term collective and interrelated legislative and regulatory priorities for CHA’s 220 member hospitals. They reflect issues that present ongoing challenges to CHA’s member hospitals as they emerge from the COVID-19 public health emergency and start the 2023 calendar year. This article outlines the priorities and issues underlying the CHA letter.
