After years of debating a federal solution to end surprise medical bills, Congress passed the No Surprises Act (Act) on December 22, 2020. At a high-level, the Act prohibits balance billing for: (i) emergency services provided by an out-of-network provider; (ii) non-emergency services provided by an out-of-network provider at an in-network facility; and (iii) air ambulance services.
