Taking concepts learned through prior models, in May 2025, the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation (CMMI), an agency within the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), announced its vision to “build a health system that empowers people to drive and achieve their own health goals and Make America Healthy Again.” To accomplish this vision, CMMI promises to focus on models that involve a foundational principle of “protecting the federal taxpayer” while being guided by the following three interrelated strategic pillars:
