Enterprise Risk Considerations for Patient Test Result Information as the Information Blocking Compliance Date Arrives

April 5, 2021 is here! This was the overall compliance date for 45 C.F.R. Part 171, on information blocking. Those provisions were part of the final rule published May 1, 2020 detailing interoperability, information blocking, and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) Health IT Certification Program final implementing regulations under the 21st Century Cures Act. The compliance date was extended by interim final rule published on November 4, 2020 in response to the need to prioritize COVID-19 continued relief efforts.
