Last year we penned an article titled A Conversation on Indigenous Health Equity: Supreme Court to Hear Indian Health Services Reimbursement Cases discussing arguments heard by the U.S. Supreme Court on whether Native American tribes are entitled to repayment of administrative expenses incurred in connection with the Indian Health Services (IHS) program from the consolidated cases, Becerra v. San Carlos Apache Tribe and Becerra v. Northern Arapaho Tribe (Cases).
This article provides an update on the status of these Cases since last year’s ruling and provides insight into the changing landscape of native health delivery and equity in the wake of administration changes and funding overhaul.
