Biologics are among the most innovative and expensive drugs in today’s pharmaceutical marketplace. They are used to treat serious illnesses such as cancer and genetic disorders, and in many cases they are the only treatment available for the conditions they treat. Biologics stand in contrast to standard, small-molecule drugs, which account for over 90% of pharmaceuticals in the U.S. market, whether over-the-counter or prescription drugs.
