Since the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) began, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has taken bold action within its regulatory authority to expand telehealth for Medicare beneficiaries through a combination of temporary and permanent changes, including adding new telehealth services and scaling back some requirements for existing services. Such changes have had, and will continue to have, a material impact on behavioral health care delivery.
