AHLA Announces Jorge Rivera-Agosto as the 2025 Excellence in Adjunct Teaching Award Recipient

The American Health Law Association (AHLA) is pleased to announce Jorge Rivera-Agosto as the recipient of the 2025 Excellence in Adjunct Teaching Award, recognizing his outstanding contributions to health law and policy education at New York Medical College and Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies.
The Excellence in Adjunct Teaching Award celebrates adjunct faculty members who demonstrate exceptional dedication to expanding students' knowledge of the health care industry and health law while showing significant commitment to student counseling and mentoring.
As an adjunct professor at New York Medical College and Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies, Rivera-Agosto teaches graduate-level courses including Introduction to Public Health Law, Clinical and Research Ethics, and Law and Bioethics. His teaching draws from his rich background as both an attorney and health care policy professional, particularly his experience in state government and the private sector navigating New York's complex legislative and regulatory landscape.
Rivera-Agosto's legal career includes extensive experience in governmental affairs and policy during his tenure at the New York State Senate, where he advised on the drafting and analysis of health care and insurance legislation and served as lead negotiator on key matters during state budget negotiations. Currently an Associate at Greenberg Traurig in New York, he focuses his practice on health care and insurance law, with emphasis on regulatory, policy, and compliance matters.
A member of AHLA since 2017, Rivera-Agosto served as Vice Chair of Publishing for the Hospitals and Health Systems Practice Group, participated in AHLA's Leadership Development Program, and served on the Young Professionals Council. He founded and developed the New York State Bar Association Health Law Section's Mentorship Program and maintains active leadership roles in multiple professional organizations.
