Washington, D.C. – The American Health Law Association (AHLA) is delighted to celebrate the winners of the 15th Annual Health Law Regulatory & Compliance Competition, hosted by the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law and sponsored by AHLA.
Now in its 15th year, this prestigious competition once again brought together talented law students from across the country to analyze a complex, multi-dimensional health law fact pattern. This year's competition, held on February 21, 2026, featured 40 participants representing 13 exceptional teams, whose briefs and oral arguments demonstrated remarkable preparation, commitment, and skill.
The first, second, and third place winning teams each received a complimentary copy of AHLA's Fundamentals of Health Law ebook and complimentary registration to either the AHLA Annual Meeting or the Fundamentals of Health Law program. All participants received complimentary student memberships to AHLA.
The winners of the 15th Annual Health Law Regulatory & Compliance Competition are:
First Place – Boston University School of Law - Georgia Aguilar, Gayathri Krishna, and Tomi Sontan; Coached by Laura Stephens, Lawrence Vernaglia, and Dianne McCarthy
Second Place – University of Houston Law Center - Mariela Arreola, Lauren Graves, and Claire Shelton; Coached by Marissa Weitzner
Third Place – University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law - Casey Alexander, Morgan Cole, and Neharika Singh; Coached by Bill Sarraille, Carolyn Jacobs, and Alex Montanio
