AHLA Collaborates with CVS Health in Second Year of Mentorship Program to Help Advance Diversity in the Next Generation of Attorneys

  • October, 09, 2023

New attorneys, especially those from underrepresented groups, face complex professional experiences. To help address the barriers these attorneys face in career development and to influence the next generation of diverse attorneys, AHLA collaborated with CVS Health to introduce the 2023 Bridges to Law Pilot. After a successful launch, AHLA and CVS Health are pleased to announce the Program’s continuation for a second year with the 2024 Bridges to Law Program.

The goal of this one-year program is to provide support to new attorneys of diverse backgrounds by building professional relationships, promoting leadership and professional development, identifying career planning opportunities, and providing guidance on developing competence in specific fields of practice within health care law and other practice areas within a health care company.

Mentee participation details:

  • This is a 12-month pilot for up to 45 attorneys who are new to the practice of law or new to their practice area.

  • AHLA membership is not required; mentee participants will be provided an AHLA digital subscription for the duration of the mentorship if they are not already AHLA members.

  • This subscription will provide the following benefits:

  • Access to the online communities found on AHLA’s website (www.americanhealthlaw.org).

  • E-newsletters Health Law Weekly and the Newsstand on State Health Law News Issues.

  • Health Law Connections, AHLA’s online monthly membership magazine.

  • Access to current and past issues of Health Law Weekly and to the Journal of Health and Life Sciences Law.

There is a minimum of one hour per month time commitment, but this self-paced mentorship allows mentors and mentees to set their own schedules.

Applicants are expected to:

  • Commit to the entire 12-month experience.

  • Provide honest and open feedback of their experience.

  • Apply by November 30, 2023.
