OSHA Opens Hundreds Of Inspections Of Health Care Facilities Due To Worker Deaths Or Hospitalizations

Bloomberg Law (5/27, Rolfsen, Subscription Publication) reports the coronavirus pandemic has “prompted unprecedented numbers of federal workplace safety inspections at health-care facilities.” Between March 16 and May 29, OSHA opened 253 inspections of health care facilities across the US, including “219 linked to worker deaths or hospitalizations of at least three workers from the same location.” Over the same period in 2019, “OSHA opened only five health-care fatality and hospitalization cases.”
