  • August 05, 2020

USA Today (8/4, Alltucker) reports a bipartisan group of 32 state AGs asked the HHS “to invoke a federal patent law to increase supply and lower prices of the COVID-19 drug remdesivir.” California AG Xavier Becerra and Louisiana AG Jeff Landry, the leaders of the group, “argue HHS, the Federal Drug Administration and National Institutes of Health should license Gilead Sciences’ antiviral to other manufacturers to ease potential shortages and lower the drug’s price.”
Reuters (8/4, Maddipatla, Erman) reports the letter said in part, “Gilead should not profit from the pandemic and it should be pushed to do more to help more people.”
