Bloomberg Law (8/13, Pugh, Subscription Publication) reports, “Coronavirus infections at the nation’s nursing homes are once again exploding.” Medicare Administrator Seema Verma said during a conference call that about 12,000 cases were reported by the industry in July, up from about 6,319 at the end of June. Verma added, “We are deeply concerned about the situation we are seeing,” attributing the problem to “significant deficiencies in infection control practices,” based on field observation. “She called on facilities to ‘double down’ on infection-control measures and training.”
