House Dems’ State And Foreign Operations Spending Bill Includes $10B For Coronavirus Response, Requires Administration To Send WHO Funds

  • July 06, 2020

Bloomberg Law (7/5, Fitzpatrick, Subscription Publication) reports “House Democrats’ fiscal 2021 State and Foreign Operations spending bill would boost overall funding, set aside $10 billion for the coronavirus response, and require President Donald Trump’s administration to send funds to the World Health Organization.” The bill “would provide $65.9 billion in discretionary funding, an $8.5 billion increase over fiscal 2020.” That funding “includes slightly more than $10 billion for a variety of coronavirus-related emergency funds that would be exempt from statutory spending limits.” Meanwhile, the US “would be required to send $200 million to the World Health Organization within 60 days of enactment of the legislation, despite Trump’s decision to cut off funding for the group.”
