Coronavirus Vaccine Coverage Could Strain Budgets Of State Medicaid Programs

Bloomberg BNA (8/20, Lee, Brown) reports covering the cost of coronavirus vaccines for low-income adults could strain many state Medicaid programs. Vaccinating adults who are Medicaid beneficiaries “is especially important because low-income Americans are more likely to get the virus than wealthier workers who have health insurance through their employer.” However, only “22 of 51 Medicaid programs covered all adult immunizations recommended by the CDC, according to a recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association.”
