Trump Administration Launches “Operation Warp Speed” To Accelerate Development Of Coronavirus Vaccine

The Hill (4/29, Samuels) reports the Trump Administration is launching “Operation Warp Speed” with the goal of accelerating the development of a coronavirus vaccine. The project involves HHS, the FDA, and other federal agencies “with the goal of having 100 million doses ready by the end of” the year. Michael Caputo, the assistant secretary for public affairs at HHS, said, “Operation Warp Speed is clearly another extension of President Trump’s bold leadership and unwillingness to accept ‘business as usual’ approaches to addressing the COVID-19 crisis.”
