Democratic Lawmakers Urge Trump Administration To Fix Guidelines Which Allegedly Allow Insurers To Deny Claims For COVID-19 Testing

Bloomberg Law (7/7, Hodge, Subscription Publication) reports, “Congressional Democrats want the Trump administration to revisit guidelines they say allow insurance companies to deny coverage claims for [COVID-19] tests and related services.” Guidelines which were “issued June 23 violate Congress’ legislative intent to provide tests without consumer cost-sharing or limitation, bicameral Democratic Health Committee leaders say in a letter to HHS Secretary Alex Azar, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Labor Secretary Eugene Scalia.” The letter says, “It is unacceptable that this administration’s priority seems to be giving companies loopholes instead of getting people the free testing they need.”
