Bill Seeks To Make Medicare Reimbursement For Some Telemedicine Services Permanent

  • June 15, 2020

Modern Healthcare (6/12, Cohen, Subscription Publication) reported Reps. Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-PA) and G.K. Butterfield (D-NC) “introduced a bill to make Medicare reimbursement permanent for some telemedicine services.” Modern Healthcare added that telemedicine has rapidly expanded during the coronavirus pandemic in part due to many relevant restrictions being relaxed by the federal government.
Healthcare IT News (6/12, Jercich) reported the proposed legislation known as the Helping Ensure Access to Local TeleHealth, or HEALTH Act, would require the HHS Secretary to revise federal regulations to consider telehealth services from an eligible facility as a “visit.”
