Report Indicates Coronavirus Cases In Nursing Homes Have Surged To All-Time High

USA Today (8/17, Alltucker) reports, “Coronavirus cases in nursing homes have surged to an all-time high, driven by spread of the virus in Sunbelt states, according to a new report.” Almost “four in five of coronavirus infections were at facilities in Sunbelt states, where total nursing home cases nearly tripled since mid-June, according to the report.”
      According to the AP (8/17, Alonso-Zaldivar), the report “found there were 9,715 coronavirus cases in nursing homes the week starting July 26, a 77% increase from a low point the week of June 21.” The AP adds, “Weekly deaths, rose to 1,706 the week of July 26, an increase of nearly 25% from a low point the week starting July 5.”
