Early Career Professionals–Practicing As a Health Care Attorney Without Having Taken a Health Law Course

In 2022, I travelled two and a half hours from Charlotte to Raleigh, North Carolina for a state Bar Association CLE that their Health Law Section hosted. At the time, I had been a newish associate at a small firm that had a two-practitioner health law practice. By this point in my career, I was three years out of law school.
I had previously worked as a generalist staff attorney for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and as an assistant counsel for a smaller health system. I had had mostly criminal appeals experience and some encounters with the health care industry.
