Early Career Professionals—Utilizing Medicaid Offsets for Other Budget Priorities

With recent inflation and concerns for the economy, lawmakers are experiencing difficulties agreeing on government spending measures. One method of reducing costs to procure more support for spending proposals is by providing “offsets.” These are budget proposals that will decrease spending in one area to balance increased spending in another area. One offset that has been proposed is greater compliance measures for Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) to reduce fraud, waste, and abuse.
