SCOTUS to Consider Patient’s Challenge to State Consent Order Ending Involuntary Commitment

The Supreme Court agreed December 5 to review whether federal courts lack subject matter jurisdiction under the Rooker-Feldman doctrine over a patient’s challenge to a state consent order that placed certain conditions on her release from an involuntary commitment that was still subject to state court review.
