Trump Announces Plans to Impose Tariffs on Generic Drugs

President Trump signaled this week that imported generic drugs would be the target of future tariffs. In a July 21 social media post, Trump suggested that generic companies would face 100% tariffs starting in August 2028, increasing to 200% the following year, if they failed to “reshore” production into the United States.
